    How the Program Works 📝

Students are divided into two groups:

    • Beginners: Pawn & Knight
    • Experienced: Bishop & Rook

Each group follows its own level-based curriculum. Every class includes:

    • A structured lesson
    • Supervised gameplay with real-time coaching and feedback
    • Rotating opponents to experience different playing styles

Groups switch activities halfway through class so every student receives both instruction and practice.

    Skill Placement 🧠

Players of all levels are welcome!

    • New students: Complete our optional Chess Skill Assessment or select the closest level.
    • Returning students: Select your student’s previous level or retake the assessment if unsure.

Coaches may adjust placement to provide appropriate instruction and balanced games.

Players of any level are welcome to join — we have a place for every student and will pair them according to their approximate level for balanced and engaging games.

    Session Tournament 🏆

The session concludes with a 5–6 round timed tournament. The top three students in each group receive trophies or medals, with tie-breakers used when needed.

Our program also helps prepare students for future school, district, and USCF-rated tournaments.
